MFMI Vision and MissionThe MFMI empowers the world's largest network of professionals who are working to bridge best practice lessons in microfinance with the delivery of novel learning programs about management and organizational development within microfinance institutions (MFIs).

The reach of the MFMI is global, but its mission is local.  MFMI and its founding organization CGAP have learned from years of work on capacity building that contextualization to local realities is a key driver of successful learning programs.

The MFMI channels its energy and resources to a growing network of 46 training and academic organizations in 25 developing and emerging countries-where microfinance practice is found.  Member organizations reside in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, working throughout these regions to meet the critical need for capacity building services within the microfinance sector.

The MFMI fosters network collaboration both virtually and at regional workshops to 1) facilitate peer-to-peer exchange and lateral learning based on their experience and internal institutional changes in developing learning programs on microfinance management, and 2) fast track members' skills spanning from research to evaluation processes, but contextualized to their respective microfinance marketplace.

The MFMI collaborates with CGAP to educate funders of microfinance, in a manner that complements the skills development work of MFMI with training and education providers.  MFMI and CGAP co-deliver the CGAP Course for Microfinance Funders to build the strategic awareness of funders and government officers for making responsible investments in the sector.
